Out & About

Beautiful sceneryThe whole island is easily accessible from Sconser Lodge enabling our guests to explore all that Skye has to offer.

For the energetic, the Cuillin mountains are close at hand with low level walks in breathtaking scenery, or peaks to challenge the most experienced climbers.

The Isle of Skye golf club is next door to the hotel with discounted day tickets for residents. In season fishing permits are available for the river at Sligachan.

Slightly further afield there is pony trekking at the Skye Riding Centre, and a number of boat trips including the Bella Jane which travels in to Loch Coruisk in the heart of the Cuillins. Across on the Isle of Raasay a whole range of activities are on offer at the Outdoor Centre.

DeerFor those in search of Skye’s heritage there is Dunvegan Castle, or the MacDonald Clan Centre at Armadale. Another popular attraction is the Bright Water Otter Haven at Kylerhea.

There are plenty of opportunities to experience traditional music and dance, with regular concerts at the Aros Centre in Portree, and a number of annual music festivals around the island.

We hope you will enjoy dining with us during your stay, but there are, of course, other wonderful places to eat including the famous Three Chimneys at Colbost and Kinloch Lodge in Sleat.

The Harbour View in Portree and Loch Bay in Stein are two seafood restaurants we particularly like. No trip to Skye would be complete without a visit to the Talisker whisky distillery; while if you develop a taste for the local beer, Isle of Skye brewery tours are available at Uig.
