Sconser Lodge is situated on eastern side of the Isle of Skye. Our central location means we are perfectly situated for exploring the whole island, together with the neighbouring Isle of Raasay which is just a fifteen minute ferry ride from Sconser.
To reach us by road
Nowadays most visitors come over the sea to Skye by way of the bridge which runs from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin. We are on the A87 midway between Broadford and Portree and the hotel is well sign posted from the road.
The CalMac ferry runs regularly between Mallaig on the mainland and Armadale at the south end of the island. There is also a small car ferry which runs between Glenelg and Kylerhea during the summer months.
The nearest railway station is at Kyle of Lochalsh. From here there are regular buses to Portree, which stop in Sconser. For details of the rail timetables, see the Scotrail website
On Foot (!)
For the more intrepid we are an ideal stopping off point on a hiking tour of the island.
There is a nationwide travel information service available, called Traveline Scotland. One number gives access to information about all rail, coach, bus, ferry and internal air services in Scotland. Telephone 0870 608 2608. All calls will be charged at the national rate.
